Hello Luke,

The Samson fish weighed a fraction over 25 kilo, my son caught a bigger one later in the session, but it wasn't weighed, they only weighed my fish as it was the first one that I had ever caught. They normally just take a quick photo and release the fish because they are brought up from a depth of some 370+ feet.

Excellent looks like great fun to me, perhaps i will give it a go one day when i have saved my pennies. Did you go to perth specifically to fish or was you just on holiday in general and went out on the a boat for the day?

I went to Taba in Egypt back in September and they had a boat there that would take you out big game fishing, only trouble was that i was with the girlfriend who is not interested in fishing at all and it was pretty expensive because you would have to hire the boat for the day, although they did have certain days when you could go out as part of a group of single fisherman. If i had of been with a couple of friends i would have definately given it a go.

We were staying with my son who lives in Perth, it was his boat that we were on.

Did catch a pirhana once, but it was on a size 12 hook to nylon attached to a chopstick
and baited with a piece of chinese take out squid from a friends aquarium
after a boozy celebration of Englands world cup rugby win...so I guess that
doesn't count
