2002 WINTER League - First leg - Match 1
Date: 20th January 2002.
Venue: River Medway, Wateringbury, Kent.
Conditions: Cloudy, very windy (gale), heavy rain showers but mild. The River was up, coloured & flowing quite fast. Quiver tip being the only option. Most of the higher weighs contained skimmer bream, smaller weights were individual fish i.e. Roach, Ruffe etc

Venue: Staplehurst Reservoir, Staplehurst, Kent.
Conditions: Cool, cloudy & windy, but sunny periods, reservoir being filled during the match had dramatic effect on catches.

2002 WINTER League - First leg - Match 4
Date: 13th October 2002.
Venue: Toke Reservoir, Kent.
Conditions: Misty first thing, calm & still with a slight chill in the air, after midday it rained & became windy.
Comments: Another difficult match, weights made up mainly of smaller fish with a decent Perch being caught. Top weight contained reasonable Bream.

As in keeping with Linton tradition a minutes silence was held before the match in memory & respect of Brian Jenner who died on 21st September 2002. He had been a key member of the Society for decades, especially on the Match & Junior scene.
We are all deeply saddened by his death, he will greatly missed but never forgotten.

Date: 17th November 2002.
Venue: Staplehurst Reservoir, Kent
Conditions: Foggy start with light drizzle, no wind, very mild, rain stopped mid morning then turning into sunny spells. Temperature dropped in afternoon.
Comments:

Low turn out. Another slow match, weights made up mainly of smaller fish with a few decent Roach being caught. Disappointing, because there have been a lot of large Roach coming out recently. Barry Andrews had one of 1 lb. 5ozs. only last week.

2002 WINTER League - Match 6 Xmas comp
Date: 15th December 2002.
Venue: River Medway, Wateringbury, Kent.
Weather Conditions: Dull, overcast, light winds but mild. It rained continuously throughout the match, heavy at times.
Water Conditions: Water level was up slightly on arrival, rose gradually though the match thereby increasing flow & colouring up.
Comments:

Disappointing due to the weather & water conditions, this led to poor match results. R. Clarke only had three bites producing three fish, enough to win him the match, all Bream & caught on "chopped worm". Weights contained Skimmers, Bream, Roach, Perch & Ruffe. All anglers went on to quiver tip, many didn't even have a bite, despite this everyone took home a prize!
